Championship Show at Bracknell on – 10th January 2009

As the new interim standard was not on the website on the day of the show and I had received no directive from either the Bulldog Breed Council of the Kennel Club I had to judge to the original standard which will be reflected in my critique.

Thank you to the London Bulldog Society and its hardworking committee for a lovely day judging their annual championship show. Although the hall was a little cold, I thoroughly enjoyed. Obviously at this time when the breed is under such scrutiny, I paid particular attention to certain health issues-heavy over nose rolls, pinched nostrils and eye defects where penalised accordingly, and as usual some some of the dogs I admire so much from the ringside unfortunately fell into this category! Never the less, I was pleased with both of my challenge line ups and my top winners were of high quality. Thanks to all exhibitors for their entries and sportsmanship.
Mrs Pat Davis, Ocobo.

Nice profile with a good reach of neck, nice top line and strong hindquarters. At 7 years old this dog moved around better than some half his age and is a credit to the breed and his owners.

Like the winner no exaggeration and very clean cut. Nice head with a good length of skull, big nose and open nostrils and good upsweep of jaw. Square front with straight bone to neat feet.
